With her husband Peter, she purchased the Japanese country spa and wellness retreat known as “Shizuka Ryokan”. Managing this innovative business provided Margaret with the ideal opportunity to utilize her longstanding interest in complementary therapies for the benefit of guests, corporate clients and the wider community whilst also building on her previous study and training in Swedish and Remedial Massage at The NSW School of Therapeutic Massage back in 1997.

Subsequently graduating with the Diploma of Aromatherapy, Margaret concurrently received the prestigious award for “Most Outstanding Student” from the Australian College of Natural Medicine in Melbourne. At the same graduation ceremony, Margaret was also awarded the “Certificate of Excellence” from the Australian Natural Therapists Association.

Most recently, Margaret graduated with a Diploma of Reflexology from her old college, which is now known as the Endeavour College of Natural Health. With this diploma, the college also awarded Margaret their "Excellence in Clinical Practice" prize.
She is particularly interested in fertility and maternal reflexology and is currently undergoing post-graduate studies.

Offering clinical consultations amongst other services, this practice adds an important new dimension to the array of health and wellness services that are available for residents and visitors alike.

Concurrently, Margaret creates a range of natural skin and body care products, many of which are used in the Shizuka Ryokan spa. The products are progressively being made available for sale through Shizuka Ryokan as well as online. Margaret also produces individually prescribed products for the wider community, including treatments for teenage acne problems and nourishing products for mature skin.

Shizuka Ryokan was the winner of the Hepburn Regional Tourism Award for excellence in both 2008 and 2009 and was awarded Finalist in the 2009 Victorian Tourism Awards. Such accolades serve to recognise Margaret’s particular contributions to the standards achieved throughout the business in general and in its spa and wellness operations in particular.

Margaret enjoys living in Daylesford breathing the country air with her husband Peter and their two Spoodles. In the few moments Margaret has away from exploring complimentary therapies, she enjoys cooking, the performing arts, tending to her vegetable garden and walking the dogs.
